Happy
Groundhog Day. Phil would see his shadow here, too, if he hit the right
moment. It’s variably cloudy with a chance of croissants. I just ate
one because seeing It’s Complicated gave me a yen to. But really I like bran muffins better.
But
what I want to tell you about is the first day of Spring, March 20,
when I and a dozen or so friends will be performing at the Freight and
Salvage in a birthday show for me and a benefit for Solar Cookers International,
which is sending food to Haiti AND solar cookers to cook it in. They
have been doing this for ten years to both save Haitians money on
charcoal and prevent deforestation.
My last birthday show was great fun, and this one is looking promising. I’ll definitely be singing “The Bellybutton Test.” The Freight has a good description of the show at http://www.thefreight.org/nancy-schimmel.
And they really do have more comfortable seats now. And more seats. So
tell your friends in the Bay Area. I’d rather have that than a present.
Things! I have way too many of them.
I saw a short and sweet documentary on Facebook and am passing it on to you:
I’ll be seeing Melanie & friends this Friday at la Peña in “Music that Woke the World.”
